Two Barn Owls Set Free at Little Uvas VineyardsWe're so excited to see Tarmo Hannula's article in The Morgan Hill Times about our recent partnership with The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (WERC) and the release of two beautiful rehabilitated barn owls at Little Uvas Vineyards (LUV). Hannula wrote, "A pair of young wild barn owls were reunited with Mother Nature Sunday thanks to the efforts by the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center. Dozens of people took part in an upbeat send-off party at Little Uvas Vineyards in San Martin. The hour-long twilight gathering also served as an educational and fundraising event for WERC, which has been serving Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy for more than 30 years with wildlife rehabilitation and education. Besides an information table, photos and information panels strewn about, people also had a chance to come face to face with another barn owl, Barnadette, an educational bird who calmly perched on the arm of a WERC team member watching with equal curiosity." A little pasta, a lotta fun at Little UvasSan Martin winery gains popularity with new varietals, culinary creationsLaura Ness wrote a great article for the Morgan Hill Times about Little Uvas Vineyards (LUV), and we couldn't be more pleased! A brief excerpt from the article: "Praise be to the gods of pizza and pasta, and wine. Fridays and Saturdays have already become legend at Little Uvas and DeRose Vineyards on Fitzgerald Avenue in San Martin, where the hospitality flows like wine, and the woodfired pizza oven turns out pies for which people gladly stand in line. As longtime sous chef at Rosy’s at the Beach in Morgan Hill, Chef Berto Breton established himself as a beloved member of the kitchen staff there. When former owners, Rich and Rosy Bergin, sold the place in 2023 to Pam Novak and Vanessa Bermudez, he transitioned over to Little Uvas, where he brings his skills to the pizza oven. He makes all the dough and the sauces, and cooks up special pastas every Thursday evening." Local Winery Featured in Edible Monterey BayBrittney Sherman who covers news, tourism, and small bsuinesses for Choose Morgan Hill added a nice mention to the Choose Morgan Hill blog about Little Uvas Vineyards (LUV)'s recent news coverage in Edible Monterey Bay. "Is it a winery, a car museum, or a pizza place? Little Uvas Winery, owned by local restauranteurs Rosy and Rich Bergin, is all of those things and more. Wine Journalist Laura Ness had nothing but glowing reviews about her visit to LUV Winery complimenting the quality of the wine, the diversity of the food, and the relaxed atmosphere. Stop by and give them a try on pasta Thursday or pizza Friday. " Read the blog post on the Choose Morgan Hill website.
Grape Escape: Little Uvas Vineyards an Oasis in San MartinLaura Ness, with Edible Monterey Bay, reviewed Little Uvas Vineyard (LUV) for the magazine. She wrote, "In addition to a sweet vineyard, Rich and Rosy Bergin have an awesome little wine tasting room on Fitzgerald Road in San Martin. Part car museum and part pizza parlor, it’s also a lovely spot to hang out and taste, whether you’re inside their garage turned tasting lounge (which they share with DeRose Winery), hanging out in what feels like a miniature version of a café, or outside at one of their many picnic tables, enjoying the ag views and the breezes shuttled in from the Monterey Bay by a gap in the coastal hills. Newcomer Little Uvas Vineyards Takes Home Big Wine Industry Awards
In January, winemakers Rich and Rosy Bergin drove from Little Uvas Vineyards (LUV) in San Martin, CA up to Cloverdale to drop off serveral cases of their small batch, estate-grown varietals to be judged in the San Francisco Chronicle's 2023 Wine Competition.
Each year 60 industry judges taste and evaluate over 5,500 wines from nearly 1,000 wineries. The competition is fierce amongst well-known and established wine makers throughout North America and even more intimidating for wine-industy newcomers like LUV.
In what may be a surprising industry upset, LUV came away with not one, but FOUR coveted 2023 SF Chronicle Wine Competition Awards. A surprise in that, unlike most previous award winners, LUV's estate grown grapes are cultivated in the Santa Clara Valley and not in Napa Valley or other more well-known wine-growing locations on the West Coast.
